LADIES GOLF NEWS MARCH 2010
Welcome to Autumn – what a start with a complete washout on Tuesday! Let’s hope the rest of the month will be drier and we can enjoy our ladies golf.
LADIES ECLECTIC, BIRDIES AND PUTTING COMPETITIONS
It is not too late to enter these competitions which finish on Wednesday 24th November. These competitions are in 2 divisions and are open to all ladies.
The cost for the Eclectic and Birdies competitions is $25. This year we have separated the Putting competition which will run apart from the Eclectic and Birdies competitions. If you wish to enter the Putting competition the cost is $5. Please put your entry fees in an envelope and pay it into the Pro Shop by 31st March. Prize giving will take place at the Ladies Breakup Lunch in December.
Details of all these competitions are on the notice board in the Ladies Locker Room.
RAFFLES
The winners of the February raffle were Maggie Smithers, Helen Tomson and Marie Osborne. The next raffle will be drawn on the next Ladies Saturday, the 20th March. Tickets will be on sale on Tuesdays and on Saturdays.
If anyone would like to contribute a prize for the raffles then please hand them to one of the Committee ladies - myself, Marja Blyth, Eva Kaptolac, Helen Kennedy, Patsy Martin, Pat Norman, Maggie Smithers or Vonnie Thompson.

LADIES TUESDAY GOLF COMPETITIONS
The 8.30am shotgun start has proved to be a successful format, enabling us to have a social meeting altogether after our game. Please enter your names in the computer as usual and your tee will be allocated when you arrive. Those ladies who walk will naturally be allocated an appropriate tee.
LADIES MONTHLY SATURDAY COMPETITIONS
The winner of the “guesstimate” of my Drive In was Sally Barnes. I drove 135 metres (measured by GPS) and Sally guessed 136 metres. This was considerably more than my previous attempt!
The next Ladies Saturday competition will be SATURDAY 20th MARCH.
Please put your names as usual in the pink folder WHICH IS NOW LOCATED IN THE LADIES LOCKER ROOM.
LADIES PENNANT MATCHES
We wish the Weekday Grade 2 and Grade 3 Teams good golfing as they begin their season at Mt Coolum on Monday 8th March. Their first round at Headland was cancelled because of the deluge!
The Weekend Team have had 4 rounds so far, with a Bye and are currently lying 10th. Each team has a Bye at their own course so it is difficult to judge the exact position of the team.
Thank you to everyone who assisted in hosting the Pennant Matches on Sunday 28th February. It was a great day and we had many compliments on our course, Club House and Pro Shop.
LADIES NAME BADGES
If you would like a name badge please put your name on the list in the locker room. The cost of the badge, which is magnetised, is approximately $13.
GOLF DATES FOR YOUR DIARIES
SHELTER BOX CHARITY GOLF DAY on Monday 15th March at Cooroy Golf Club. This is an Ambrose event with a 10am shotgun start. Details are on the large notice board and can also be found on www.cooroyrotary.org.au
GYMPIE PINES INVITATION DAY is on Wednesday 14th April and is an 8.30am shotgun start. Details are on the small notice board in the Ladies Locker Room.
PALM MEADOWS LADIES CUP is on Monday 29th March. Palm Meadows Golf Club is on the Gold Coast near the Radisson Hotel. Details are on the large notice board in the Ladies Locker Room. PLEASE SEND IN YOUR OWN ENTRY FORMS.
The MAROOCHYDORE 2 DAY LADIES’ CLASSIC will be held at Horton Park Golf Club on Thursday 15th and Friday 16th April. There are 3 divisions with a handicap limit of 40. The closing date for entries is Thursday 1st April. Details are on the large notice board in the Ladies Locker Room. PLEASE SEND IN YOUR OWN ENTRY FORMS.
QUEENSLAND WOMEN’S COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIP will be held at Coolangatta & Tweed Heads Golf Club from 17th to 19th May. This incorporates a Foursome Championship and a 2 round Country Championship. Closing date for entries is 22nd April. Details are on the large notice board, and are also available on the Golf Queensland web site. PLEASE SEND IN YOUR OWN ENTRY FORMS.
FINALLY – Due to the downturn in the economy Peugeot will no longer be sponsoring their Women’s Classic. We were due to hold our event on Sunday 26th September, so if possible we will be organising an alternative.
