Having problems with your swing?

I see many people coming to the range to change their swing because they hit the ball poorly on the course. OR think that their swing has changed or gone off during a round.

Rather than a drastic swing change I find that you can usually fix your swing mid-round by checking your alignment and then getting your tempo correct. If you feel that your swing is too quick then make sure you finish the backswing before you start the downswing. Listen for the swoosh sound at the bottom of your swing and finish in the balanced follow through.(Correct tempo is to the beat of 1 AND 2 or Back AND Through). If your alignment is out, your brain will automatically make corrections to compensate for your misalignment and this is then felt by the body as a bad swing usually ending in an off balanced finish. Try using an intermediate target (a piece of grass or mark on the ground) just in front of the ball, line your club up with that and your feet parallel to your target line.

For more information about tempo or intermediate targets see Wayne ( Head Golf and Teaching Professional) or Adam ( Golf Ops Manager and Assistant Professional) in the Pro Shop.
